First Discussion - Goals of Lean Hub (Discussion)

cervoni saidTue, 09 Dec 2008 01:52:47 -0000 ( Link )

I thought I would start a discussion thread on the some ideas/goals of using LearnHub.

I have been recently involved with a Grant through our local BOCES on Enhancing Education Through Technology. It is offering some great resources for teachers and leaders in education to incorporate new Web 2.0 activities within our instruction and leadership practices. Perhaps would could incorporate some of these sites and begin to develop some suggestions for leaders within our group.

Here is a few worth checking out:

1. www.ning.com – A social network site similar to LearnHub.

2. www.ning.com – A great education wiki site. I will post some examples that were shared at our last meeting I attending in my next post. A great wiki for teachers to create for their classes.

That’s it for now….I’ll check back later to hear some feedback!

    Hi Jon,

I looked at both web-sites. Both are very impressive. I particularliy like www.pbwiki.com. Great for collaboration. It looks like a vauable process for use in a classroom. Jon, do you know if it is possible for you to present a LESSON on the INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP COMMUNITY? Am I the only one as group leader to be able to do so. I raised this question with LEARNHUB and as yet have not received a response.

I raise this issue only because I would like you to present a LESSON on LEARNHUB without going through me.

Dr. Calzi- I did just check out the lesson page, and I believe I can add a lesson. I’d be happy to put something together. I believe anyone who is a member of our community can create/post a lesson.

Please let me know what you are considering.

    Jon,

Your choice. Just as long as it fits in with theme of this site. You may wish to review LESSON 1. In Lesson 1 you will find a detailed explanation of the site.

Ok. Got it. I believe my first lesson will focus on how we can incorporate the use of technology to not only enhance our instruction, but to bridge the gap between countries & educational experts.

I still need to review the previous lessons posted, but will hopefully put something together in the weeks to come. Looking forward to the growth of this community.

Wow it looks like this community is going to take off. I would suggest also looking at the Moodle community. It is the application that we at Athabasca University use to deliver a majority of our content.
